Federal Councilor Blocher to visit the USA

Berne. The Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Justice and Police, Federal Councilor Christoph Blocher, will visit the USA on July 26, 2007. During his visit he will meet U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, FBI Director Robert Mueller as well as US Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell.
The main theme of the talks, which are to take place in Washington on July 26 and 27, 2007, is the cooperation between Switzerland and the United States on the criminal prosecution of terrorist activities as well as on the fight against organized crime. In addition, Federal Councilor Blocher will inform his counterparts about the introduction of Swiss passports with electronically-stored data as well as the Interpol database for lost and stolen travel documents.
