Visit to Washington of the Federal Councillor Widmer-Schlumpf

Berne. The Federal Councillor Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, head of the Department of Justice and Police, is travelling to Washington invited by her American colleague Eric Holder, Attorney General of the United States.

On Monday, 2 March 2009, the Federal Councillor Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf will meet her American colleague, the Attorney General of the United States Eric Holder, in Washington.

The talks will focus on the cooperation between the judicial authorities of the two Countries, in particular regarding the fight against the financing of terrorism and organised crime. They will also address the arrangement between Switzerland and the USA concerning the collaboration of law enforcement agencies in investigations against Al Qaeda, issues relative to the solution of the Guantánamo problem and the Visa Waver Program. The talks should also include the UBS issue.
