General Directors’ Immigration Services Conference (GDISC)

The GDISC is an international network founded in 2004 to facilitate practical and operational cooperation between European asylum and immigration services. The various forms of cooperation include exchanging experiences, developing best practices, informal meetings between the General Directors, advising EU institutions on operational asylum and migration issues and building up networks of experts. The topics relate to managed migration, return, communication and management aspects. Experts meet to discuss these areas at themed conferences and workshops in order to seek innovative and effective forms of practical cooperation.

Switzerland has been a member of the GDISC Steering Group since 2012. The members of the steering group normally take turns to chair the GDISC and run the GDISC secretariat. Switzerland last chaired the GDISC in 2015/2016.
